My Kitchen Rules contestant Jennifer Evans has admitted that she would probably "hate" herself too if she was a viewer of the show.

The Thai-born wannabe chef, who is taking part in the Seven Network reality cooking show alongside best friend Leigh Sexton, said that she doesn't mind being portrayed as the villain of the series because it makes for good television.

Evans told Adelaide daily The Advertiser: "If I didn't know me, I'd hate me too. I look really mean on the show.

"I don't know if I look that mean or mean compared to everyone else because everyone seems to be holding back. I don't think I'm that mean... who knows?"

Evans also said that she realises that My Kitchen Rules is "not just a cooking show, it's reality television as well", adding: "The producers and the editors have to do their job. The show can't be just boring, everyone can't be nice, otherwise there's nothing to talk about, is there?"

In Wednesday night's episode (February 1), Evans and Sexton hosted a dinner for judges Manu Feildel and Pete Evans, but were disappointed when they only scored three out of ten.

"We were so stressed out and extremely tired towards the end," Evans admitted. "I don't think we did the best we could. I overcooked the hell out of the dessert - in a real-life cooking situation you make mistakes every now and then."
