The star of Thor and Snow White and the Huntsman was spotted flying into Sydney yesterday (Thursday, July 26), fuelling rumours that he was visiting the city to film commercials for the Australian pay tv company. The news has since been officially confirmed.
"It's fantastic that Chris Hemsworth has agreed to become the face of Foxtel," the company's CEO Richard Freudenstein said in a statement.
"Not only is he one of the hottest stars in the world, he is a great Australian talent and the perfect person to bring our content to life. People may think they know Foxtel, but it's time to look again."
Hemsworth added: "This is a great opportunity to come back home and be a part of something that represents my passion for great storytelling, high quality television shows and movies. And with Foxtel, there's no better place to access that."
The new commercials will premiere in August, while Hemsworth will next be seen on the big screen alongside Josh Peck and Hunger Games star Josh Hutcherson in the Red Dawn remake.
He will also play James Hunt in Ron Howard's motor racing movie Rush, which is due for release early next year.
