Adam Liaw has won 2010's MasterChef Australia.

The 31-year-old, who quit his job as a lawyer and relocated from Japan to Australia to take part in the competition, beat runner-up Callum Hann by seven points with a final score of 89 out of a possible 100.

AAP quotes Liaw as saying: "It's extraordinary. I'm over the moon, absolutely, I'm over the moon. I still just can't believe it. It hasn't sunk in yet."

The two finalists went head-to-head in a skills test, an invention test and then had to replicate a guava and custard apple snow egg dessert designed by celebrity chef Peter Gilmore.

Hann was offered a job at judge George Calombaris's Melbourne restaurant, as well as $10,000 (£5,800).

Liaw, who won $100,000 (£58,000), a recipe book deal and training at various prestigious restaurants in Australia, said that he would love to open a Japanese Isakaya pub with a casual restaurant.
