Marion Grasby has revealed that she feels very "lucky".

The former MasterChef Australia contestant, who came eighth in last year's series of the cooking reality show despite being tipped to win, said that she has worked "hard" but is enjoying her culinary career.

Since leaving the show, Grasby has made regular appearances on the Nine Network's morning show, has completed her first cookbook and has been researching her own line of Thai cooking ingredients.

She told The Sunday Times: "I think I was incredibly lucky to come out of the show and know what I wanted to do. It's been hard work and I've had to do the hard yards, but I've been very lucky."

Grasby has stayed in touch with her fellow contestants from the series, including winner Adam Liaw and runner-up Callum Hann.

After various apprenticeships in high-end restaurants, Hann recently revealed that he no longer wants to work in a kitchen, saying: "I certainly wasn't used to working the long hours that chefs work. I'm not sure if that's a career that I'm really going to pursue."
