The 25-year-old MasterChef star, who recently made it to the top four contestants in the Australian version of the reality cooking show, said that she met New Zealander Chris while travelling in Sri Lanka four years ago.
Venn told Woman's Day magazine: "It was coming up to my 21st birthday and I was travelling by myself around Sri Lanka, making a documentary for university. I was like, 'I don't know anyone here and I am just going to have my own 21st party and invite people that I don't know on the beach'.
"I had made these little flyers about my birthday and I went up to him and said, 'I am going to have some drinks at this bar, it is my 21st and it would be really cool if you could come', and we just started chatting from there. And we have been together ever since then. We live together now and will hopefully buy a house soon."
Venn said that Chris has been a massive support since she entered MasterChef. "Of course he has missed me, but at the same time he is so supportive," she said. "He is just the nicest person. He just wants me to be happy."
She also admitted that she wants to own her own business and get married in the next five years.
Venn and her remaining competitors Michael Weldon, Alana Lowes and Kate Bracks were slammed in last night's episode for serving up raw chicken during a Maggie Beer challenge. They now all face elimination.
This year's season of the cooking reality television show has been plagued with controversy. The judges and producers were forced to hit back at reports that they were mistreating the contestants, while former top ten competitor Mat Beyer was kicked off the show after being caught with a banned smartphone.
