The 34-year-old Australian television presenter, who used to host the reality cooking show alongside judges Gary Mehigan, George Calombaris and Matt Preston, admitted that she does not enjoy the show any more because she cannot watch it like the average viewer.
Wilson told The Daily Telegraph: "I dipped in and out every now and again to keep an eye on things but I know it too well, it's lost the allure of the average person."
The star also said that MasterChef's producers need to pay attention to criticism from viewers of this year's season and make appropriate changes.
"They've got so much more competition with My Kitchen Rules and other reality shows, so I think they tried to pull out different tricks and techniques," she said.
"The producers will have to adjust and in my experience they are able to, but I think it's a wonderful thing if viewers are saying, 'We just want the food stuff, we don't want the sensationalism'. It's not a bad thing to have to respond to."
Wilson is now the presenter of Eat Yourself Sexy, a show that encourages people to lose weight through sensible eating. She said: "Cheese is very sexy. It's luscious and salty and it's comforting, but in a way that you know it's doing good things for you; it's indulgent, but you don't binge on it. I eat cheese and I feel like my body's been satisfied."
This year's series of MasterChef was won by Kate Bracks. The runner-up was Michael Weldon.
Eat Yourself Sexy airs on Thursday nights at 8.30pm on LifeStyle YOU.
