The Aussie celebrity chef, who regularly appears on both MasterChef and Junior MasterChef as a judge, said that Channel Ten bosses want to pit seasoned cooks against each other in Professional MasterChef.
Moran told the Courier-Mail that the new version will begin as soon as the original cooking competition finishes next year.
Ratings for the current series of Junior MasterChef recently hit an all time low, with audiences of only 741,000 Australians compared to last year's debut 2.2 million viewers.
The show has also caused controversy after one contestant's father claimed that it is "staged" and that the children are given recipes weeks in advance.
This year's MasterChef was won by Orange mother Kate Bracks, who has since admitted that she doesn't want to be a professional chef. Swimmer Eamon Sullivan was crowned Celebrity MasterChef in 2009.
The auditions for MasterChef 2012 are currently underway in Sydney.
