Daniel MacPherson, former star of The Bill and Neighbours, has been confirmed as the host of the Australian version of The X Factor.
MacPherson has signed a two-year contract with the Ten network, which already airs Australian Idol and is preparing to bring The X Factor to viewers.
Ten's head of programming, David Mott, told Aussie newspaper The Sunday Telegraph, "[The X Factor] has enormous broad base appeal. It could easily be another Idol."
He added, "We just knew Daniel MacPherson was right for the role. He has great credibility, he's the right age and he has a strong drama background."
