The singer and actress was allegedly approached by television bosses to take part after Kyle Sandilands turned down the offer to reprise his role as a judge.
According to The Daily Telegraph, Goodrem was a favourite to be a mentor on the first series of the reality TV programme.
Since announcing that he would not be appearing on this year's season of the show, Sandilands has claimed that fellow judges Natalie Imbruglia and Ronan Keating have also "stalled" negotiations.
Radio stars Merrick Watts and Jackie O have also been mentioned as possible judges.
