The former Spice Girl, who was first linked to the reality television series earlier this week, said that she will be a "firm but nice" member of the judging panel.
Mel B told the Herald Sun: "[The contestants] are either going to love me or hate me but it's going to be a fun ride. I'm really easy to get on with and I'm a hard worker. I'm firm but nice."
She was brought in as a judge to replace Kyle Sandilands, who announced earlier this year that he would not be returning to the show because it is "too hectic".
Fellow judge Natalie Imbruglia then "stalled", leaving Ronan Keating and Guy Sebastian as the only remaining original judges.
The fourth judge on the show is believed to be former Neighbours star Natalie Bassingthwaighte.
