The Commando, whose real name is Steve Willis, said that he has tried to keep "grounded" since he first donned the signature dark glasses and combats that he wears to train contestants on the reality weight loss show.
Willis told New Idea magazine: "[My fame is] more humbling than anything. I'm keeping my feet grounded and living life as I've always done."
He recalled making a young girl burst into tears while having breakfast in a Sydney cafe, saying: "I saw she swapped seats with her father so she could hide her head behind this big arrangement of flowers on the table. Her father said she was a bit scared of me. But we reconciled and took a happy snap so it was all good."
Wills, who has 12-year-old daughter Brianna and 3-year-old Ella plus another child on the way, said that he loves being "outdoorsy" with his own children.
He revealed: "We like to go for drives in the national park. On Saturdays and Sundays, we'll get up, go have breakfast and chill out. We take the kids for a walk or push them in a swing. [I love] to see my little one's face when she's riding a scooter."
The former Australian Special Forces commander also said that he is "completely the opposite" of romantic but likes that he now has "the ability" to take partner Froso for "nice dinners".
Willis is mentor to Sarah and Kellie Moon on the reality show. Sarah recently revealed that she feels "fantastic" since shedding 35kg on the series, while Kellie said that she now "looks forward to so many things".
