The 22-year-old musician from Adelaide, who ate 1,000 calories during a 'temptation' challenge last week in order to secure the cash prize, was shocked when he was forced to choose between $30,000 (£20,000) in gold bullion or his place in the competition.
After choosing to leave The Biggest Loser, Moore told his fellow contestants that he would weigh "80kg" by the finale, adding: "Camp Biggest Loser has been such a phenomenal experience. I've learnt so much in this short period of time. I'm keen to prove everyone wrong."
His teammate Luke Stephens said: "I'm annoyed that James has come here and taken a spot from someone else who would have given the money back because they know that they need to be here. To be honest, I think that James will be back at his original weight within two to three months."
Trainer Shannan Ponton added: "I'm incredibly disappointed. James has only been here at Camp Biggest Loser for 13 days. There's no way he's learnt the tools mentally to get his weight and his life under control. How can you put a cash value on what Camp Biggest Loser can do to change your life?"
In Monday night's episode (February 6), Selena Brown also returned to The Biggest Loser, a week after Margie Cummins eliminated her from the show.
After the remaining contestants weighed in, Shane Edwards and Michelle Cortesao put themselves up for elimination and one of them will leave the competition in tonight's episode (February 7).
The Biggest Loser airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel Ten.
