Nine Network reveals plans to "dominate" Australian TV in 2012

Nine Network bosses have predicted that 2012 will be the best year of TV that the station has ever seen.

Television executives revealed at a programming schedule launch this week that they plan to air expensive, well-promoted Australian reality shows regularly in 7pm slots to ensure that they "dominate" peak viewing hours.

It has already been announced that Big Brother will be relaunched next year, this time fronted by Sonia Kruger. Daily reality shows such as The Celebrity Apprentice and The Block will also return.

New talent show The Voice, starring Delta Goodrem, Keith Urban, Seal and Joel Madden as judges, is expected to do well in the ratings, as is weight loss reality show Excess Baggage, featuring Ajay Rochester and Kevin Federline.

Next year will also see the premiere of new Lincoln Lewis drama Tricky Business and the latest season of crime drama Underbelly. Comedy duo Hamish Blake and Andy Lee, who recently filmed a chatshow in New York, suggested that they might shoot a new show in London in 2012.

Nine's chief executive officer David Gyngell told The Age: "'You will not see anything go backwards. That's the best bunch of programmes Channel Nine has ever had, and this is the most expensive schedule Channel Nine has ever had.''
