Jackiey gone: Is that the death of it?
Day 9, 19:58 GMT
By Dek Hogan
Of course I can do that but what should I do for an encore, drown some puppies?
To be honest I’ve liked what I seen of her so far – I’ll rephrase that later – and her charming naivety seems very touching but can a deposed beauty queen dating a footballer who is old enough to be a large section of his teammates' dad, let her alone hers, really be that green?
Maybe our Danielle really is as sweet natured as she’s been portraying herself but she could of course just be a master tactician and has already cast less than subtle aspersions of the dirty old man variety at more than one housemate.
It could prove to be a dangerous game, playing the baby of the house too closely, if it does prove to be a front because frankly it’ll be difficult to keep up that sort of charade over even the shortened run of the celeb show.
I’m sure the “love me, love me I’m thick” card is another one she would have called more into play had it not been trumped by Jade’s arrival.
We’d hardly had time to form a rounded opinion of Shilpa before Jackie with a “y” swept in and now our perception of her has no doubt been tainted by the fact that we may well have got to see her worst side before we’d managed to take her to our hearts.
While it might be quite funny for us watching at home to see Jackiey’s antics, I’m sure many of us would feel differently about them if we were actually in there in such close proximity and with nowhere but the toilet to go to escape.
I can understand some of Shilpa’s frustrations but she does seem to have an inflated idea of her importance and on several occasions has managed to talk down to or belittle some of her roomies and I’m fairly convinced that she doesn’t realise she’s doing it, hence her own frustration and bewilderment at the fact she’s managed to annoy them.
Shilpa will be a prime candidate for booing when she emerges but I really don’t think she’s a bad person and had the whole Goody family event not happened, she probably would have integrated far better than she actually has.
Her popularity outside certainly won’t be helped by the eviction of Jackiey who has quite bizarrely become even more of a cult hero now than she was when she went in. It seems that the more bizarre, erratic and unreasonable her behaviour, the more she has become a national treasure. Trisha could probably get an entire series out of her.
Had we been voting to evict then her departure wouldn’t have been the least bit surprising but as we were voting to save, it did take me aback slightly, though I suppose many of her natural supporters would have gravitated towards Jade. My surprise wasn’t that she had failed to poll many votes but that Jack had managed any at all.
It not just that he’s barely featured in the highlights shows; he has hardly registered on my radar during live streaming either. He may be a shoulder to cry on for Jade but he even managed to pass on that responsibly to Jermaine when she most needed it. I’m sure he’s a lovely lad and maybe now that he’s out from under Jackiey’s shadow we’ll see a bit of him but in terms of good telly he’s been a total waste of space up until now.
The manner of Jackiey’s eviction was very cruel indeed with no chance for her to put on an eviction outfit, no crowd to greet her exit and her departure wasn’t even announced by Davina. It’s a bit harsh to put someone through the emotional mill of this show and then deny them the usual trappings at the end. I know they’ve done this before but it still doesn’t make it right.
If you asked me which one I wanted to win at the moment, I’d really struggle with the question. Oddly H is probably the one who has done least to get on my nerves but that’s not a valid enough reason to want him to emerge victorious. It seems rare to see a shot of Jo without a fag in her hand so surely the usual contrived tobacco shortage is due so that we can wind her up a bit.
I thought Cleo would be far more entertaining than she has managed so far but then some celebs really can’t perform without a decent script. Maybe they should send Barry Cryer in to giver her a few decent lines.
What should be getting annoying is that Carole still seems to think that she’s the font of all wisdom but the saving grace here is that I’m fairly sure that if things pan out the way they tend to in this show, she’s heading for a fall. Her reaction to her punishment for talking about nominations was angry and less than graceful.
My problem with Jermaine is that he appears to be a wonderful human being, coming across as both supportive and non judgmental and offering both sage advice and emotional succour to anyone who needs it. In the so-called class split he managed to remain on good terms with all parties. The United Nations could really do with him. I'm not sure that angels make good television.
Can anyone really be that serene and calming in that environment or is all the pressure just building up inside and will we see a shocking eruption as the series progresses? He’s one to watch. At the moment though it's hard to decide whether he's being enigmatic, vacant or just plain bored.
As for Dirk, I thought he could be the hero that would come through and take this year’s crown but I’m finding him creepier with each passing day and to be honest I’m not quite sure why. It’s just a feeling.
His cock sure bravado and winning smile are starting to wear thin and there have already been signs of the vulnerabilities underneath. That big cigar seems more like a comfort blanket than anything else to me. Talking so candidly about his political views may also alienate some of his potential supporters.
Rumours abound about new arrivals including one that Princess Nikki may be sent into the house yet again. I’m all for locking Leo and Nikki in a room together, they probably deserve each other but I’m not sure I’d actually want to witness the results. You can take reality TV too far you know.
I’m finding it difficult to be objective where Leo’s concerned because absolutely everything about his antics in there, whatever mood he’s been in, has got right up my hooter, to the point where if he suddenly transformed into the most caring, lovely entertaining housemate we’ve ever had in the show, I probably wouldn’t notice.
The fact that he annoys the other housemates though is sadly reason enough to keep him in.
We badly need the drama.
More soon.
