While the world queues up to crucify Jade Goody, it's worth noting that bullying has continued in the house in her absence. This time it's been Dirk that's taken the brunt of it. India may have taken the shoddy treatment of one of its cultural icons in its stride but will the good old U S of A? Let's hope George W doesn't find out or Endemol may have air strikes to worry about.

It would seem that some of you think that because Shilpa was a target of the bully girls that she's somehow above criticism. Now if you've getting your news from house merely from the news bulletins and some of the papers, it's understandable to take that view, but if you've actually been watching the show, it's more difficult to come the same conclusion, in particular if you watch much live streaming.

I stand by my criticisms of Shilpa – which were fairly mild anyway – and would stress again that just because she doesn't appear to me to be the paragon of virtue that she's being portrayed in some quarters, I in no way at all defend the antics of the bullies. Indeed, I hold the opposite view. I described Danielle as a vile bitch last week, pretty damning words those, and nothing I've seen of her since I wrote them had caused me to change my mind. As for Jo, her standing in my estimation gets lower with each passing day.

Jade's exit was a remarkable piece of television in which she was confronted with the footage of her actions for what I suppose we must assume was the first time. It was interesting that she made little or no attempt to defend her actions and opinions will divided over just how genuine the tears were and precisely why she was shedding them.

That Jade can be such a nasty person shouldn't have been such a massive surprise for anyone and if anyone tells me that producers weren't expecting her to be so confrontational in that house, I simply won't believe them. The whole point of putting her into that environment was to cause trouble but when that trouble began to get out of hand, the production team could easily have stepped in sooner but chose not to. A mistake in my opinion.

Much of the venom that's been spat in Jade's direction would be better directed at the programme makers that allowed the situation to continue and at the bosses at Channel Four whose judgement should certainly be called into question. The station's chief executive may have said that he was taking the situation seriously but it certainly didn't seem that he was in his hastily arranged press conference at the media bash in Oxford. You'd have thought he'd at least have bothered to put a tie on. If money's really that tight at the station then someone should point out that you can pick up a suit for next to nothing at Asda or Tesco these days.

An independent commission has been set up but that seems to have satisfied no one while Ofcom appeared pretty toothless and slow to act when faced with a torrent of complaints.

When Cleo becomes one of her characters, the result is scary enough for those of those of us watching at home so one can only imagine the terror Dirk must have felt when "Tiara" came after him with all guns a-blazing. Yet again it caused scenes that were really not pleasant to watch.

Dirk certainly had a valid point when he said that Cleo had crossed the line but Jo seemed to be lapping up every moment of his obvious discomfort with relish.

I'm really glad that Jack doesn't do much because when he does I just find him loathsome and one more reason not to watch, as if there weren't enough already.

As for who I'd like to win, that's a real tricky one because almost everyone has shown a nasty side to their nature. I haven't really got much against Jermaine but I honestly can't say he's entertained me that much either - his efforts at being funny in the diary room weren't comedy but they were definitely art - so at the moment I'm tempted to plump for H out of Steps whose attempt to make Big Brother laugh was the only one that I actually thought was amusing.

In such close confines however, someone who is constantly playing the nice guy is bound to grate on people's nerves eventually and the fact that he was nominated was no massive surprise.

While the torment continues inside the house, it becomes harder to avoid Jade's appearances on the box on the outside although at least her performance on The Wright Stuff was mercifully short.

I'd like to believe that her contrition was genuine, I really would, but surely the best way to do that would be to issue a statement than keep your head down rather than pop up on every available show then burst into tears. The crying may well be absolutely real but it comes across as manufactured as the hug she shared with Shilpa on the night before her exit.

A double eviction is probably a good idea at this stage and of those we've been given to choose from I'd imagine that Jo will be the prime suspect but I think it's also time to say goodbye to Dirk because he seems to fighting some kind of private war that I don't even believe he fully understands.

I like Cleo a lot less than I did before the series began but the perfect punishment for her crimes is to leave her in there to continue making an idiot of herself.

The real villain of the piece still seems to be Danielle who seems blissfully unaware of the damage she continues to do to her public persona. It would appear that Danielle will still be there on final night when presumably she'll come out to face the modern day equivalent of the stocks.

Some people are positively salivating at the prospect at seeing her publicly destroyed without realising the irony that in doing so they are sharing many of the values that are fueling their hatred of her in the first place.
