Mario and Rex discuss last shopping list

Mario confronted Rex about his management of last week's shopping list just before the new one was delivered this morning.

The housemates were all looking forward to receiving their luxury budget, and the main topic of conversation was what they would buy. However, Mario took the opportunity to discuss with Rex the mistakes he felt were made last week.

Telling Rex that it was "only a debate", he said: "You're a chef, I'm not a cook, but Lisa might see something more homely, while you might want to do something fancier. That's where she's getting a bit frustrated, because she wants to get into the kitchen. Everyone's different. At the restaurant you know your audience, but here you don't because everyone's different."

Rex pointed out that because the group had a basic budget last week, they were unable to cater personally to everyone's needs. "I still think we could have done it more effectively with Lisa's involvement," Mario replied. He argued that Lisa made stews and casseroles which he "could eat all day", before complaining that the shopping list had been badly organised as the group still had pasta, tuna, and four bags of potatoes left over yesterday.

Rex said that the group couldn't afford meat, so stews and casseroles weren't a possibility, but Mario thought they could have been more "creative". He added that people wanted to eat at different times, although Rex said that wasn't possible on a basic budget.

"Learning how to ration for people in here is going to be a learning game," he argued, but Mario responded: "Well, Lisa's great at that, Jen's great at that. They have hands-on experience. This is a home environment, not a restaurant one." Rex defended himself, saying that he catered for different numbers of people and that his "whole life has revolved around food and nothing else".

"You can't control it," Mario said. "We're a team and you're an individual, and you can't control the team. People eat at different times and you can't accept that."

The shopping list arrived shortly afterwards, and the group had a luxury budget of £490 to spend.
