Terry has told Tommy that the Labour Party tried to recruit him when he was a presenter on youth TV programme The Word.
He explained that although he supported Labour, he would not join the party after Tony Blair became leader.
"I've always been a Labour voter, but for me, Blair's a Tory. I'll vote for you but I'm not going to go on the campaign trail," he reportedly told the party representatives.
He attacked the introduction of tuition fees for students, which he said "even Thatcher" had not brought in during her time as Prime Minister.
On politicians who supported the fees, Tommy said: "You all climbed up the ladder of opportunity that free education gave you and now you're trying to kick the ladder away."
Terry presented five series of The Word on Channel 4 from 1990 to 1995.
