Former Big Brother contestant Alexandra De Gale has been cleared of charges of possessing a knife in a public place.

She had been accused of pulling a knife on three women outside her house in Allen Road, Waddon, after being taunted about her Big Brother experience, reports the Croydon Advertiser.

The women claimed that De Gale, 24, became enraged and emerged from her home with a six-inch kitchen knife, which she brandished in front of them.

However, Croydon Crown Court was told that it was the former housemate who had called the police rather than the defendants after they tried to steal her mobile phone.

The jury took one hour to unanimously clear her of possessing a knife in public.
