Brian Belo has said that the decision by Channel 4 to stop broadcasting Big Brother after next year is "sad".
The Big Brother 8 winner released an official statement expressing hope that the format will be picked up by another channel, Heat reports.
Brian said: "For someone who has watched the show from day one and is still an avid fan, I think it's safe to say it's a sad day for reality TV. The show will leave a lasting legacy in British television.
"As of yesterday, I had only just finished viewing all of the episodes of my 2007 year, so it's really bizarre that the morning after I have watched my full series that Big Brother has been axed!"
He added: "I would like to think that another channel could see the benefits of having a show like Big Brother and that this popular programme can continue in some form."
