The Thai government are considering shutting down the local version of Big Brother after the "improper behaviour" of two of its contestants.

Said impropriety involved male housemate Toto and female housemate Pim declaring their love for each other. The pair had previously been seen holding hands, hugging and even lying together on the sofa.

"I don't understand why they dared to express their love openly before the cameras, or if they were told by the producer to do such a thing in order to get the top TV audience rating," said Kuthep Saikrachang, chairman of the committee on religion, arts and culture.

He added: "Thai society can't accept a reality programme like this because it does more harm than good to society. Why did the Thai producer import the concept of the programme from a foreign country?"

The committee, who are also concerned that children may imitate the contestants' behaviour, are now putting pressure on State agencies to decide on the show's future.
