Pete has admitted that he and his boyfriend were living on a budget of less than 8 Euros a day while in Italy.

The pair were virtually penniless in a remote part of the country after spending huge amounts of money for Pete to undergo facial surgery there.

"I had to sell my laptop for 500 euros and we really had to string that out," Pete told the group. "But then you get so deprived, you stock up on everything and overeat."

Pete had to resort to desperate measures just to eat, he added. "It was bad... as in, ketchup and water to make tomato soup. When we were in cafes, we used to have to take the bread and the sugar and the milk from the table."
