Chantelle Houghton has admitted that she regretted marrying Samuel Preston after just four days.
The Celebrity Big Brother winner met Preston in the house in January 2006, and they tied the knot seven months later. However, Chantelle was plagued by doubts about their future during her honeymoon in Morocco.
"On the fourth night he took me out to dinner and I suddenly felt really upset," Chantelle told the News of the World. "The doubts had already set in. I found we really didn't have anything in common and were on completely different wavelengths."
Chantelle and Preston shared a house together in Brighton, but she was so unhappy about her lifestyle that she developed an eating disorder.
"I'd drink a bottle of wine, sometimes two, because I was so unhappy," she explained. "I also started scoffing bags of crisps and chocolate. I stopped doing exercise and just watched TV. When I looked at my naked body in the mirror I hated it - so pale and overweight. I didn't recognise myself and felt disgusting.
"That's when I started making myself sick. Preston was regularly taking me out to posh restaurants and I'd have soup to start, then a big bowl of pasta followed by chocolate cake and cream.
"I did enjoy it but as soon as I finished I'd feel guilty, lock myself in the toilet and stick my fingers down my throat. It was the same at home."
Chantelle announced that she was divorcing Preston in June. She eventually returned home to her mother in Essex and beat her demons.
"I began eating sensibly again and started having fun with my mates," she said. "I'm so much happier being free and single. I got married far too young."
