The Bollywood actor was modelling for Levi's 'Unbuttoned' range at the Lakme India Fashion Week show when he reportedly carried out the "vulgar and indecent" act.
Social worker Anil P. Nayar raised the matter with police in Mumbai, while the local force confirmed that a complaint was lodged, reports Reuters.
Nayar's lawyer SG Pandey said: "After the preliminary inquiry, we will register a case against Akshay Kumar, [his wife] Twinkle Khanna, the abettor of the Lakme Fashion Week show and the top management of the Grand Hyatt [the hotel where the show was held] and we will take action against them."
Kumar, who recently worked with Kylie Minogue on the film Blue, has appeared in more than 80 movies including 2008 hit Singh Is Kinng.
