The film focuses on a love story set during the Mumbai floods of July 2005 and features Emraan Hashmi and Soha Ali Khan.
Hashmi said: "Kunal wanted the situation to be an exact replica of the horrific flood situation that the city faced that fateful night. It was difficult to even imagine how commuters would have struggled with no support whatsoever."
Hashmi, who is best known for mystery Raaz, recently broke his finger while shooting a scene in torrential rain.
Tum Mile will be released on July 24, ahead of the anniversary of the Mumbai floods, depending upon on the resolution of the Bollywood strike.
