Sinha, daughter of Indian actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha, has agreed to appear in a romantic drama due to begin filming in September. The film will be directed by Abhinav Kashyap and produced by Arbaaz Khan.
The producer told One India: "We have given Sonakshi a brief and she was excited about the story.
"We had the option to go for a big actress or completely new talent. But we went for Sonakshi as we think that their fresh pairing makes a great combination."
Several actresses have debuted opposite Salman Khan in recent years, including Sneha Ullal in Lucky: No Time For Love and Sonam Kapoor in Saawariya.
