The 24-year-old, who was born in north London, was selected by Mattel Toys ahead of the likes of Aishwariya Rai Bachchan as part of the company's 50th anniversary celebration.
Kaif said: “I'd call it a fun honour. To have your face on dolls that you've played with from childhood is quite flattering. We've been in negotiation for nearly six months. It finally came together for the 50-year celebration of Barbie."
Since making her Bollywood debut in 2003, Kaif has starred in a string of smash hits including Welcome, Partner and Singh Is Kinng.
However, she was recently replaced by Ghajini actress Asin Thottumkal in a Yash Raj project, which also features Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
