Sinha, who is the daughter of Indian actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha, reportedly pulled out of the as-yet-untitled movie because she wants a more substantial role.
The actress had been due to begin shooting the romantic comedy in September after being cast by Salman's brother Arbaaz Khan, who is producing his first feature film.
A source close to Sinha told MiD DAY: "She did some research and realised that all the actresses who have debuted with Salman were merely wallflowers and made no impact in the film. So last week, Sonakshi called Arbaaz and told him that she couldn't be a part of the film anymore."
Several actresses have debuted opposite Salman Khan in recent years, including Sneha Ullal in Lucky: No Time For Love and Sonam Kapoor in Saawariya.
