The new feature is a remake of Ramesh’s Tamil language Cyanide, a political drama following the last days of the two assassins.
The actress has said she has yet to read the script, but she has no reservations about taking on the controversial role.
Her previous projects include Firaaq which centred on the Gujurat riots of 2002.
Goswami said: "I have no problems playing Subha as long as people know that the film is a person’s impression. I don’t fear any backlash. I find the story interesting.
"When we made Firaaq, we were prepared for all sorts of comments, including negative feedback. It’s high time India made films on such subjects. But, of course, it has to be handled sensitively. Ramesh’s film requires a lot of research."
