Slumdog Millionaire actress Rubina Ali is writing an autobiography which will be released in Britain and the US next month.

In Slumdog Dreaming: My Journey To The Stars, nine-year-old Ali will recount her life story which saw her being picked up from the slums to star in Danny Boyle’s multiple Oscar-winning film.

Publishers Transworld said: "[Ali] tells her own incredible story, from playing marbles with her friends beside the sewers of Garib Nagar in Mumbai, to dancing along to the Bollywood films she and her family watch on their old television set."

The actress last month returned from the promotional tour for Slumdog Millionaire to find that local authorities had evicted her family from their slum home, in a shanty town clearance drive. Her father was reportedly hospitalised by the police for refusing to leave.

Director Danny Boyle flew out shortly afterwards to assist the actress and her co-star Azharuddin Ismail Mohammed in finding new homes.
