Akshaye Khanna has been axed from appearing on Salman Khan's TV show after he was deemed too serious, it has been reported.

According to Masala, Khan had lined up the actor to appear on 10 Ka Dum alongside Anil Kapoor to promote their new film Shortkut - The Con Is On.

Though the interview date the had been set, Khan reportedly changed his mind and suggested replacing Khanna with his co-star Arshad Warsi.

The chatshow host felt that the actor's heavy image would make the episode boring, with Warsi a more lively guest. Kapoor, who produced the film and is a good friend of Khanna, apparently agreed to the change in the lineup.

Recent reports suggested that Kapoor reprimanded Khanna for failing to make enough appearances to publicise their forthcoming movie.
