Around 1,000 British actresses-dancers are currently working in Bollywood, according to industry statistics.
Former Miss Universe UK 2008 Lisa Lazarus, who will star alongside Salman Khan in forthcoming release Veer, is part of the new wave of UK actors in India.
She told Bolly Spice: "I can’t wait for Veer to come out now.... To hear people say it’s the next Slumdog Millionaire feels fantastic - and there’s going to be a big premiere in London."
Lazarus will play Khan's English love interest, who falls for the hero after getting lost in the Indian jungle during the 1890s.
Meanwhile, Bristol-based arts graduate Florence Brudenell-Bruce recently appeared in Love Aaj Kal as Saif Ali Khan's other half.
She said: "I play Jo, Saif's girlfriend… at one point she isn't sure that she likes him and isn't dancing but she realises that she likes him and does the twist."
