Ram Kumar Kumavat has been arrested after being accused of raping a 24-year-old actress.
The Bollywood director, who has helmed a number of small-budget films, was taken into custody on Sunday and will remain under police supervision until July 29.
An official from Versova Police Station in Mumbai stated that the alleged victim has been sent for medical tests.
The incident is believed to have occurred in Kumavat's office, where the actress had been invited to discuss a future role.
Actor Shiney Ahuja was arrested in Mumbai last month after allegedly raping his maid.
