The actress stars in No Problem with Akshaye Khanna and is also planning on filming another light-hearted movie Tannu Weds Mannu with R Madhavan straight after, reports The Times of India.
Ranaut told the newspaper: "It's taken so long for me to do what most conventional actresses start out doing - romance or romantic comedies. But better late than never.
"I was tired of being depressed, now it's time to have some fun."
The star added that while she does not regret beginning her career with so many serious roles, she is happy with the variety of films that are now being offered to her.
