Kapoor was effusive about Chopra's acting abilities despite the pair breaking up earlier this summer.
He told NDTV: "I always knew Priyanka was a very good actress and after working with her in Kaminey, I think she has given one of the most splendid performances of her career. I think Priyanka is at her career's best right now.
"She is a self-assured actor and very confident. She gives her best to whatever she does. I'm sure she'll be noticed and appreciated by the audience."
Kaminey, which is directed by Vishal Bharadwaj, is scheduled for release on Friday.
