The pair have agreed to appear in Lord Owen's Lady, which is about a Welsh nobleman who falls in love with an Indian girl.
Hopkins, who is still finalising his involvement in the film, is expected to play the eponymous Lord Owen's father.
The news comes just days after Ismail's father passed away after contracting tuberculosis.
Martin Pennel, the executive producer of Lord Owen's Lady, told The Sun: "It is very sad, but it was his dad's desire for him to play a part in the film."
