The helmer, who is making his directorial debut with the picture, admitted that while the plot of the movie isn't centred around Khan's incident, it does mention it.
"The story is not based on Salman Khan's accident, but there is a reference to [the] Salman Khan incident," Nair told IANS.
"Salman Khan did one accident, but in India 250 accidents take place every hour. There are reports on it. This film is based on accidents and every one of us have either met with one or has heard of it from friends.
"From the Salman Khan incident, I have taken that some people do severe accidents, but nothing happens to them and they resume a normal life."
In September 2002, Khan drove his Jeep over several people sleeping outside a bakery on Hill Road junction in Bandra, killing one person and causing serious injuries to three others.
Celina Jaitley, Abhimanyu Singh and Farooq Shaikh play lead roles in Accident On Hill Road, which will be released on December 31.
