'3 Idiots' breaks opening day records

The actor, whose movie Ghajini grossed $19.2 million (£12.1m) during Christmas 2008, smashed previous Indian film records when his latest outing took $21.4m (£13.5m) on its opening weekend.
3 Idiots, directed by Helmer Rajkumar Hirani, opened on 2,126 screens on Christmas Day and earned $4.45m (£2.8m) from overseas audiences.
Based on Chetan Bhagat's bestselling novel Five Point Someone, 3 Idiots is a comedy satirising the Indian education system.
