'Slumdog' cash helps Qureshi leave slums

Rubina Ali Qureshi is to move away from the Mumbai slums in which she has always lived, reports say.

The actress, 10, who played the young Latika in Slumdog Millionaire, could be moving into a new apartment thanks to director Danny Boyle's charity the Jai Ho Trust, according to New Kerala.

Qureshi has reportedly earned more than $145,000 (£89,000) in film and book deals since she appeared in the Oscar-winning movie and has also received a $32,568 (£20,000) advance for her autobiography Slumgirl Dreaming.

She will apparently receive more than $80,000 (£49,000) in Slumdog Millionaire royalties in April 2010.
