The director said that she had enlisted Winborne, who edited Will Smith's In Pursuit Of Happyness, Seven Pounds and Oscar-winner Crash, because of his international pedigree.
"We needed that international sensibility to be placed on the footage," Yadav told IANS.
"We sent a subtitled print to Hughes. But he soon did away with the subtitles. He got all the Hindi jokes and punchlines.
"It's really about getting the rhythm right. The Western audience has a different pace for movie viewing. That pace worked beautifully in my film."
Teen Patti, which was first edited by Kaushik Das, is released on Friday.
