Shetty petitions for BBC Asian Network
Published Saturday, Mar 6 2010, 10:53 GMT | By Zakia Uddin

The broadcaster recently announced that it plans to close the digital radio station, which has lost 100,000 listeners in the last five years, as well as BBC6 Music.
According to The Guardian, other signatories to the letter include boxer Amir Khan and Bend It Like Beckham director Gurinder Chadha.
One of the reasons cited for the Asian Network's closure is that it attempts to cater for too disparate an audience.
