American Empire, which is directed by Planet of the Apes helmer Andy Armstrong, reportedly revolves around the criminal underworld.
It has been suggested that the movie will also star Nina Dobrev, Shannyn Sossamon and Leslie Mann.
It is reportedly due for release in February 2011.
