The actress, who has reportedly written to the BBC herself about the possible closure of the digital radio station, said that the move could leave many British Asian radio employees out of work.
"She's seen as the voice for the Indian community in London. When she read a couple of petitions being circulated to protest against the decision she decided to write a letter to their head office," a source told Mid Day.
Confirming her support for the network, Shetty said: "Yes, it's true that I have written to them expressing concern over the network being shut down."
