Shekhar Kapur has been selected to appear on the judging panel at the Cannes Film Festival 2010.

The Indian filmmaker, who is known for his movies Mr. India, Bandit Queen, Elizabeth and Elizabeth - The Golden Age, will be one of the eight members of the Feature Film Jury.

Tim Burton will be presiding over the jury, which also includes British actress Kate Beckinsale and Puerto Rican actor Benicio Del Toro.

India has had a presence on the judging panel in recent years, with censor board chief Sharmila Tagore appearing at last year's festival and Aishwarya Rai giving her opinions in 2003.
