The actor, who is the nephew of Bollywood star Aamir Khan, also said that he chose to base the character on Kumar because of his self-assured debonair personality.
"I was at a loss how to play this confident and suave character whose is a hit with the ladies. After some deliberation, I decided to base it on Akshay. I have met him twice and I have found him to be very cool and chilled out. The character needed to be like that, so it was a good fit," Khan, 27, told Mid Day.
I Hate Luv Storys sees Khan play a compulsive flirt who endears himself to every girl he encounters.
Before he got married Kumar was linked to several Bollywood beauties including Sushmita Sen, Shilpa Shetty, Raveena Tandon and Pooja Batra.
