According to Mid Day, the director wants his brother-in-law Khan to team up with his Main Aurr Mrs Khanna co-star again.
It has been suggested that Padukone may not agree to work with Khan because she is friends with Shah Rukh Khan, with whom he does not get on.
Rumours have also claimed that the actress may be reluctant about working on the project because her former boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor has been linked to Khan's girlfriend Katrina Kaif.
Earlier reports said that Khan and Padukone might be working together on Anees Bazmee's latest movie but the director dismissed the comments as gossip.
