The 36-year-old actor was charged last year for the alleged rape of a maid working in his Mumbai home.
He will be appearing in Shunya, a film by the director of the controversial Bandit Queen, the Times of India has reported.
An insider told the newspaper: "Shooting for the film begins on May 12th in Lavasa, a small town near Pune.
"The court has barred Shiney only from entering Mumbai."
Ahuja was in custody for three months, after DNA tests confirmed that the married star had slept with his maid.
