Local police warned the press away from a publicity event for Raajneeti at Delhi University, Mumbai Mirror has reported.
The officers said that they did not want to be held responsible for any disturbances made by fans.
However, an insider told the newspaper: "Most Delhi venues are apprehensive. Since the film is rumoured to be based on India's leading political family, it is better to stay away from it."
They added that this was the second time that a promotional event in Delhi had been cancelled.
