The filmmaker said that his co-producer Kumar, who is also starring in the movie, wanted to premiere it during the Hindu-Sikh festival, despite his picture Blue doing badly when it was released in the Diwali holiday last year.
"You'd be surprised to know in spite of Blue last Diwali, Akshay wants us to go ahead with Action Replay this Diwali. Let’s not forget, Akshay’s Garam Masala had also released on Diwali and was a big hit," Real Bollywood quotes Shah as saying.
Action Replay, which also stars Aishwarya Rai, will face stiff competition from big budget movie Golmaal 3 as it is also being released during Diwali.
"We're hoping both Golmaal 3 and Action Replay will do well. If only one film has to succeed, then may the best one win. And may we be the best," added Shah.
