Gossip site Mid Day said that the filmmaker has agreed the script for the picture and will be producing it.
Johar has apparently appointed Karan Malhotra, who assisted him on My Name is Khan, to direct the remake of the 1990 movie, which originally starred Amitabh Bachchan and Mithun Chakraborty.
Some sources have suggested that Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor may be starring in the new version of Agneepath but Johar has allegedly denied the rumours.
