Salman Khan has reportedly said that he wants to work with Deepika Padukone on the remake of the South Indian film Bodyguard.

Mid Day says that Khan told director Atul Agnihotri that he would rather star alongside the Om Shanti Om actress than his on-off girlfriend Katrina Kaif.

"Salman is keen on working with Deepika. He feels they will look good on screen," a source claimed.

"When Atul suggested Katrina's name, he shot it down saying the project needed a fresh pairing. He's watched the original and thought Deepika would fit the role perfectly."

Khan and Padukone were meant to appear together in Anees Bazmee's Ready but the actress decided not to star in the picture because she wasn't happy with the contract she was offered.
